FRANKLIN, Mass. ---- Nationally ranked Dean College put away three goals in the first half and went on to shutout the Massasoit men's soccer team, 4-0, at Longley Field.
No. 17 Dean remained unbeaten at 11-0, with Massasoit dropping to 8-5. The two schools will play for a third time this season on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Dean College for the Region 21 Championship. That match is set for 2 p.m. at Longley Field.
The match was scoreless through the first 22 minutes of play, until Dean broke through against the Massasoit defense. In an eight-minute span, the Bulldogs netted three goals, two coming from Daniel Rovira to put the game out of reach early.
Dean added a fourth goal in the 59th minute when Geo Alves served a pass to Justin Freitas.
"Dean definitely played well today," head coach Rui Estrela said. "They out-hustled us, they out-worked us. We just sat back and didn't respond. That's on us. We just did not respond. Give Dean a lot of credit. They played hard and attacked us. We were just not on our game today."
