CONCORD, N.H. ---- Freshman Leon Zaffonato (Brazil) posted his first career hat trick to lead the Massasoit men's soccer team to a 3-2 victory at NHTI on Wednesday afternoon.
Massasoit (6-5) returns to the pitch on Saturday, hosting Springfield Tech at 3 PM on the friendly confines of Warrior Field in Brockton.
The Warriors and Lynx (5-6-1) were deadlocked at 1-1 at halftime as Zaffonato and NHTI's Ridha Al Jumaili each found the back of the net in the opening stanza.
In the 46th minute, NHTI would take its first lead off a goal from Matthew Sanchez.
However, Massasoit would respond, as Zaffonato scored the tying goal in the 67th minute off an assist from Ruben Almeida (Pawtucket, R.I.) and eventual game-winner in the 70th minute to give the Warriors the victory.
The Warriors have now won three in a row and Zaffonato has scored five goals and dished out four assists over that span.
