BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit baseball team welcomed the Freetown-Lakeville 12U Cap Riken All-Star Team for an indoor pre-season practice at the Asiaf Field house this past Tuesday.
The current Massasoit players and coaching staff worked alongside the Freetown-Lakeville All-Star squad through drills throughout the practice.
"It was inspiring to see passionate young players working hard at the game they love," Massasoit head coach Kraig Kupiec said. "It's no coincidence they are so successful. This past July, Freetown-Lakeville captured the Cal Ripken 11U New England Championship."
By winning the New England Championship, the All-Stars qualified for the Cap Ripken World Series last year, held in Janice Beach, Fla., and also earn an automatic spot in the 2019 12U World Series this summer.
Coach Kupiec noted the practice was productive and fun at the same time and was excited to see his current players interact with the 12-year old team.
"Players will show the most improvement when they can both sweat and smile in practice," Kupiec said. "These young men are working hard at something they enjoy doing. Awesome job to them and their dedicated coaches. It was a pleasure hosting the team and we look forward to following your success this summer."
Massasoit opens up the 2019 campaign in Myrtle Beach, S.C., at the Cap Ripken Complex on Saturday, March 9 against Middlesex CC.
